About AQA science GCSE courses

AQA offer the following GCSE course specifications:

GCSE Science A
GCSE Science B
GCSE Additional Science
GCSE Additional Applied Science
GCSE Biology
GCSE Chemistry
GCSE Physics
GCSE Applied Science (Double Award)

In year 10 (usually) Science (Science A or B, sometimes refered to as Core Science) is taken. It is compulsory. [If the student is not ready for GCSE level science, then they might take the Entry Level Certificate. I don't include details of this yet.]
In year 11 there are various options, the main ones being:
- Additional Science, the most common
- Additional Applied Science, which is suited to students who prefer a more practical, vocational approach to science.

Separate sciences can be taken and there is also a 2 year Applied Science course.

AQA offer two versions of (core) Science: A and B. Specification A uses short multiple choice questions while specification B uses more 'traditional' written exam questions. The content is the same. Make sure you know which you're taking! The word 'specification' is often used instead of 'syllabus'.
